ABOUT CHRISTOPHER HOPPING
Christopher Hopping grew up in Massachusetts. He has been painting drawing and sculpting from childhood with the goal of being and artist. He received Bachelor degrees in Painting and Illustration from the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth.
In the early spring of 1994, Christopher Hopping stepped off a plane in Palm Springs and was in awe. First was the warmth, but then he saw the view. Christopher fell in love for the second time in his life and he knew he was home.
He has lived in the Coachella Valley for over twenty-three years, spending as much time as possible exploring places like Indian Canyons and Borrego Springs – finding inspiration in these beautiful places, which he incorporates in his art.
His painting style is inspired by post Impressionism and the Fauvists. Christopher uses paint directly from the tube for the most brilliant color possible and then uses glazes, creating layer upon layer of depth and detail. Hopping loves to zoom in and add lots of detail. He endeavors to capture those moments of discovery you may find along a trail, or a surreal juxtaposition of terrestrial plant life and aquatic life it’s those moments and memories that Christopher captures on canvas.
Through his work, Hopping attempts to bring awareness to climate change and environmental conservation.
